I will summarize to you a story that I read and loved, it's first time that I read an English book but surely it will not be the last, in fact it was a small book about thirty pages but it will help me to read more and more in English . I hope that you enjoy it.
The fetch is story speaks about a young men who works in a mirror factory.
John the young men felt that he was followed by a stranger. He was scared ever since the stranger had started following him with his black hat and coat, and he had never seen his face.
Once john walked to the station as quickly as he could, he thought he saw the stranger getting into the next carriage, but he couldn't be sure.
When he got off the train, he hurried to work without looking back, for once he was glad to get to work.
At lunch time, john sat in the canteen with his friends SAM and Morga, he'd forgotten all about the stranger.
Then john looked up. When he saw the stranger he dropped his knife and fork. And he told his friends all the story. His friends looked round but they couldn't see the stranger.
Morga asked if the stranger was the same build as John and if John had seen his face.. she was a Scottish and liked tales of ghosts. John answered that he is about his size and he had never seen the stranger face.
Morga said that the stranger could be john's fetch, because they have a legend in Scotland says that when it's time for someone to die, a stranger will come to fetch him to the land of death, that's why he's called a fetch. But when he looks in his face it's no stranger it's his own self.
Sam said that John imagining it because he had been working too hard. He advised him to go and see a doctor.
John went to see a doctor. The doctor asked what seems to be the trouble, and John explained to her. She said: "because you work in a mirror factory, that may explain the situation, you see yourself almost every time in mirrors, so it's not surprising that your mind plays strange things. Every time you see someone in a coat and hat you think that it's the same person, it's not unusual to wear a hat and coat at this time of year."
John looked convinced, he would do as the doctor said, if one time he saw the stranger he will ask him the time.
He was walking to home when he felt that the stranger was here, he thought about the doctor's advice, then he stopped he turned round and asked the stranger the time.
The time? Said the fetch. And the voice was john's own, it's time to go with me.
They turned the corner and were lost from sight. John was fetched.
